Welcome to my TNG Database (Version 6.0.3, 21-Nov-2006)

IMPORTANT NOTE

On Wedneday, February 7, 2007, I took my TNG application and the corresponding database it references offline due to a number of security concerns. I have since changed a number of application settings and have restored the TNG application, and reloaded genealogy data into the database.

At present, I am the only user authorized to revise any data, although I rarely make changes here, preferring instead to revise my 'master' database on my own computer and transfer its contents to this site periodically. Please feel free to email me at the address at the bottom of this page, should you have any questions or comments.

The email function within this application is undergoing maintenance. Unfortunately, a number of TNG 'modules' call an email function that my hosting service does not support. I will post an appropriate message in this space once I've made the necessary programming changes to use my hosting service's own email functions. In the meantime, you are free to contact me via your desktop email program at the email address at the bottom of this page.

This database contains information I have recorded about my ancestors, with most of my research focussed on my Porteous ancestry (this is largely due to the relative rarity of the name, which has actually facilitated my research).

Some of the older entries are speculative in the sense that I have not located documents that can absolutely confirm my conclusions. In other instances, there are documented individuals, but I have yet to establish a relationship between my family and theirs. Further, any entries relating to my family line prior to George Porteus (Dunnington, 1789) must be considered conjecture! I have yet to find a genealogy program that allows me to assign a degree of certainty or uncertainty to relationships, so please be forewarned.
